PixiePieRy Heroscape
About Me
I fondly remember going to Toys R Us and walking past the toys section and seeing Heroscape for the first time, Master Set 1: Rise of the Valkyrie. Instantly I was intrigued by what I saw, as most of you likely were as well. I had an average job at the time so income wasn’t disposable yet, but I still couldn’t resist grabbing at least one of each new set that came out. As I was building the maps that the manual provided, I kept searching for more. Two master set maps… Three master set maps… eventually I got up to FIVE master sets! I just kept wanting more and more to really push the limits of building Heroscape!
After a few years Heroscape just stopped showing up on the shelves, but I figured I had a decent amount at that time to take care of any itch that I had to build with. That is, until I came upon some disposable income, when that little voice that is always in the back of my head became louder… “Buy more Heroscape!”. I took a deep dive into eBay, sellers, and any random sites I could find that was selling Heroscape. My collection and ambition kept growing and growing. Mega map builds really pushed me out of my comfort zone with organic builds.
I noticed that I wasn’t really playing the game as intended, but really focused on large builds. My friend circle wasn’t nearly as nerdy or had the time to invest to learn how to play Heroscape, so I took it upon myself to come up with a plan. This plan involved mega builds AND using the figures, but without the need to learn the ins and outs of the traditional game. I give you… Heroscape RPG! I wish I could say this is where it capped, but it only pushed me further to acquire more and more to fully develop a world that the average person could walk into and enjoy.
When I realized that my builds were no longer maximizing all my terrain, I had to cut myself off (or buy a bigger place to live). Instead, I acquired my most valuable collection… my family. Anyone that is in this boat will agree that this becomes your main priority in life. As a result, it’s time to pass the collection on to others to enjoy and build. This lead to the happy/sad decision to let go of my collection and put it up for sale. My goal is to break even from what I purchased as I feel Heroscape is something that has changed my life and I want others to experience the same without having to choose between eating or Heroscape. I envy the journey you all have ahead of you! Onward, Heroes!
